The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has received a donation of HK$2 million from the Renshan Fortune Charity Association (RFCA), to support academic collaboration between EdUHK and Quanzhou Normal University (QNU) in Fujian.
A ceremony was held today (20 February), in which EdUHK President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-Leung and Executive Vice Chairman of RFCA Mr Li He-xie signed a donation agreement. Also in attendance were RFCA Vice Chairman Mr Cheng Ah-pang, Deputy Secretary-General Ms Linda Chan and EdUHK’s senior management team and faculty members.
Professor Cheung thanked RFCA for its unfailing support. He said, “RFCA is committed to the betterment of the community. We are grateful for its generosity in promoting EdUHK-QNU collaboration, following on from the previous donation to support courses offered by the University’s Elder Academy. We look forward to fostering the advancement of teacher education and research, as well as sharing know-how in Quanzhou.”
Mr Li said, “EdUHK is the leading university in Hong Kong dedicated to nurturing prospective teachers, while QNU is the national bastion for teachers of Chinese in oversea countries. Over the years, QNU has developed a proud tradition of educating countless outstanding and professional teachers. We hope this collaboration can help broaden the horizons of faculty and students in both Quanzhou and Hong Kong for the enhancement of learning and teaching.
