EdUHK Holds 2024 Graduation Ceremony cum Appointment of Elite Athlete Friendly University Ambassadors
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) will be holding graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2024 students at the Tai Po campus over the next three weekends starting today (16 November). At today’s ceremony, EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin congratulated the graduates and their families and captured treasured moments with them at various photo spots.
Meanwhile, the University also appointed Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) graduates Lee Ho-ching and Leung Bo-yee as the "Elite Athletes Friendly University" Ambassadors of EdUHK, encouraging them to continue promoting the dual career pathway of athletes and the development of sports programmes.
Lee Ho-ching is a Hong Kong, China, table tennis team member. She has participated at four Olympic Games and won a bronze medal in the women's team table tennis at the Tokyo Olympics held in 2021: the first-ever Olympic medal for the women’s table tennis team of Hong Kong, China.
Leung Bo-yee is a member of Hong Kong, China’s cycling team. She won a bronze medal in the team competition at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
They both expressed gratitude for their appointments and thanked their professors, lecturers, and relevant departments for their unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement in the classroom.
“The platform provided by EdUHK allowed me to be a full-time athlete while successfully completing my studies, giving me the greatest flexibility to balance learning and competitions. They also offered a lot of learning support, making my learning experience enjoyable,” said Lee Ho-ching.
Leung Bo-yee also expressed her gratitude, “The curriculum I studied was very rich, encouraging students to develop problem-solving skills. Through hands-on experience, it not only prepared athletes for their professional careers but also nurtured a lifelong passion for health and education.”
Including Lee Ho-ching and Leung Bo-yee, there were 15 Elite Athletes graduating this year. Additionally, Legislative Council member The Hon Vincent Cheng Wing-shun also graduated with a Master’s of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management.
Professor Lee congratulated all the graduates and offered his blessings. He said, “With rapid technological advancements and an ever-changing society, only continuous and lifelong learning can help us keep pace with the times and adapt to new challenges. I sincerely hope that all graduates can continue demonstrating perseverance and resilience, excel in their respective fields, and contribute to society.”
