EdTech Innovations Salon 2023

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held the ‘EdTech Innovations Salon 2023’ today (13 June), showcasing the latest educational technologies (EdTech) and innovations developed by the University. The event has attracted over 400 stakeholders in the field.

Funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), the Salon featured an exhibition, interactive forums and networking opportunities. Its aim was to provide a platform for professionals and educators to discuss the latest EdTech trends, while co-creating a sustainable ecosystem for the sector in Hong Kong.

Showcased at the event were 15 award-winning projects from international invention exhibitions. These innovations enhance various aspects of the learning and teaching experience, and incorporate EdTech elements to create a conducive learning environment for our young generation.

Addressing the event, EdUHK President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung reaffirmed the University's commitment to developing knowledge-based practical innovations through translational research. He said, “With the University’s unique edge in education, one of our strategic areas is to integrate our expertise with technology for educational innovation. We hope to create positive changes for society by fostering research collaboration, commercialisation and startup incubation.”

The event also received support from Digital Hollywood Interactive Limited. Professor Tina Choi Wai-shan, Chief Commercialisation and Communications Officer, said it was great to have EdUHK taking the lead in fostering collaboration among academia, industry and the business sector. “We believe EdTech  will have a great societal and economic impact on Hong Kong and the rest of the world in the coming decades,” she said.

On the same occasion, EdUHK award-winning scholars and some professional experts were invited to share their views on a wide array of topics related to EdTech, including EdTech for language, music, sports and special education; AI and the metaverse; and green and health technologies. The University’s Integrated Centre for Wellbeing also demonstrated their latest innovations and shared how the novel applications could help address some of the challenges in SEN education.
