EdUHK Organises Theatre Production to Raise ASD Awareness

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held the third run of the Shine Together ‘A Kid Story’ Charity Drama at Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre Theatre between 9 and 11 June 2023. The production raised funds for Project Aspire which provides support services to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), their parents and teachers. The play attracted an audience of around 1,000 including EdUHK staff, students, alumni, families of students with special educational needs and members of the general public.

 

During the opening ceremony, President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung expressed gratitude to all sponsors for helping make the drama a success. “Through this play, we wish to deepen the audience’s understanding of the challenges faced by people with autism, and the love and care of their families,” he said.

 

The event was sponsored by Mr and Mrs Joseph WN Cheung, Chiyu Tan Kah Kee Education Foundation, Mr Denis SS Cheung in memory of Principal Cheung Wing-min of the Grantham College of Education, Shang Sin Chun Tong Charitable Foundation, Ying Lee Music Co., Ltd., CLP Power Hong Kong Limited and The Swire Group Charitable Trust.
