EdUHK launches ‘School Leadership across the GBA’ Forum Series

The Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change (APCLC) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) jointly held the inaugural ‘School Leadership across the Great Bay Area (GBA)’ Forum Series with the Department of Education Policy and Leadership (EPL) on 26 November 2022. The forum, ‘Leading Future Schools in the GBA’, was the first in a series to enact APCLC’s GBA strategy to engage school leaders across the GBA through learning from one another. It attracted more than 250 school leaders and educators from across the GBA to participate.

President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, Secretary for Education Dr Choi Yuk-lin, and Ms Yang Jun, Director of the Education Bureau of Nanshan District in Shenzhen, officiated at the forum and delivered their opening remarks.

Professor Cheung hoped that EdUHK would collaborate with fellow educators to address the challenges in educational practice, lead the enhancement of education in the GBA and build a world-class education hub together.

Dr Choi said, “We need more gatherings like today to facilitate further dialogue and reciprocal learning between schools in the GBA. It will help us better understand each other, provide knowledge exchange and allow us all to grow as leaders.”

Ms Yang introduced Nanshan District as the third largest expat centre in the mainland and the first experimental zone for educational internationalisation in the basic education sector. She commended EdUHK for setting up a great platform to learn from the peers across the GBA.

In addition to paper presentations from principals and policymakers from Hong Kong, Macau and Shenzhen, APCLC and EPL launched their publication Trading Places at the forum for building bridges with the stakeholders for further collaboration.
