EdUHK Launches 7th Seminar on NPC and NCCPPCC Talk Series Exploring Topics on Northern Metropolis Development and Youth Development in the Greater Bay Area

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held the seventh session of the “NPC and NCCPPCC Talk Series”, with the theme “Planning of the Northern Metropolis and Youth Development in the Greater Bay Area” on 29 October at the North Point Study Centre. The event featured Mr Lau Ka-keung, the Hong Kong deputy to the 14th NPC and founding chairman of Dynamic Youth of Greater Bay Area and Dynamic Youth of Huizhou, and Mr Lui Kin, the HKSAR member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and the member of Yuen Long District Council, as keynote speakers, discussing how the youth in the Greater Bay Area can seize opportunities for better development.

During the talk, Mr Lau Ka-keung pointed out the integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area helps create a quality living circle, providing convenience in the areas of employment, housing, education, healthcare and social security. Implementing these policies could foster entrepreneurship in the Greater Bay Area.

Mr Lui Kin explained the development of Yuen Long and surrounding areas in line with the Northern Metropolis Development, covering aspects such as transportation infrastructure, housing supply, innovation and technology industries, and environmental conservation. He noted that the Northern Metropolis is a crucial strategic area for introducing technologies and talents to the nation.

In his closing remarks, President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin encouraged students to seize opportunities and strive to enrich their experiences. He highlighted the importance of not only pursuing academic excellence but also engaging in the community, so they can become well-rounded individuals and be well-prepared for the future.

The “NPC and NCCPPCC Talk Series”, co-organised by the Office of the President and the School Partnership and Field Experience Office, is one of the events of the University’s 30th anniversary celebrations. The series will invite members of the NPC and the CPPCC to speak on different topics to share their insights with participants.
