EdUHK Hosts Positive Education Festival 2025: Embrace Gratitude, Embrace Life
The "Positive Education Festival 2025," organised by the Student Affairs Office at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), took place between 9 January and 17 January on the University’s Tai Po campus. The festival featured a Positive Education Fun Day, a public seminar, and a series of experiential activities, attended by teachers, students, and community stakeholders from the education sector.
On 9 January, the Positive Education Fun Day was held to convey positive knowledge through four themed classrooms and game booths. A total of 470 students from ten primary schools in the New Territories and Kowloon participated in the event. Co-organised by over 40 EdUHK students, the four classrooms focused on themes of "gratitude", "positive emotions", "positive values" and "character strengths". Among them, the "Gratitude Popup Book Workshop" was uniquely designed and crafted by EdUHK students, leading participants to discover through storytelling the beauty and precious things in life that are worthy of gratitude.
On 11 January, a public lecture titled "Positive Education in Hong Kong Primary and Secondary Schools: Application Research and Practical Experience Sharing" was held for attending educators to share the development of local positive education. Mr Antony Li, Director (Education) of the Bei Shan Tang Foundation shared his insights on the implementation of positive education locally and related application research. In terms of practical case studies, Principal of Salesians of Don Bosco Ng Siu Mui Secondary School, Mr Li Kin-man, shared the process and insights of establishing a "Wellbeing School".
Vice Principal of Ying Wa College, Ms Norris Lai, Discipline Master of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Primary School, Mr Au Ka-man, and Manager of St. James' Settlement Positive Education Centre, Mr Eric Ma also attended the lecture to share their experiences, challenges, and collaboration with social welfare organisations and teacher training resources in implementing positive education in primary and secondary schools.
The festival closes today (17 January). More than 400 EdUHK students have participated in six webinars and workshops during the 9-day festival.
Dean of Students Prof Bill Yeung Chi-ho said, " The Student Affairs Office hopes to organise an even greater variety of events in the future and contribute to the advancement of positive education."
