EdUHK Delegation Joins the Inaugural ‘Hong Kong Talents Beijing Tour’

A delegation from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) participated in the inaugural ‘Hong Kong Talents Beijing Tour’ held between 18 and 22 September 2023. This event was co-organised by the Beijing Overseas Scholars Centre and the Hong Kong-Beijing Colleges and Universities Alumni Alliance. Its aim was to establish a connection between people of outstanding talent in Beijing and Hong Kong, while fostering further academic exchange and collaboration in diverse areas, such as science, technology, innovation, and talent development, for the betterment of the country. 

 

Among the delegation were Professor Yan Zi, Acting Head of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction; Dr Sun Fenghua, Associate Head and Associate Professor of the Department of Health and Physical Education; and Dr Wang Cong, Assistant Professor of the Department of Chinese Language Studies. Two doctoral candidates – Zhuang Yipeng from the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology and Pan Yingying from the Department of Early Childhood Education – were also part of the delegation. 
 
Also joining the four-day tour were 27 scholars from The University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University, and City University of Hong Kong.  

 

The tour was based on three major themes: Education Journey, Science and Technology Journey and Cultural Journey. In accordance with these themes, the delegation visited places such as Peking University, the Huairou campus of the Institute of Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Advanced Light Source Technology Research and Testing Platform, the Yanqi Lake Institute of Applied Mathematics, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei National Technological Innovation Centre, the Beijing Graphene Research Institute and the Baidu Company. 

 

By gaining insights into the latest developments in technological innovation in Beijing, the delegation acquired an in-depth understanding of the science and technology sector in mainland China, unleashing new opportunities and possibilities for promoting academic exchange and cooperation.
 
A forum was also held to discuss the talent development and collaboration between the two places based on their respective strengths. There, EdUHK delegation presented to the attendees the University’s achievements in promoting education. This was followed by a visit to the National Museum of China, The Palace Museum and the Olympic Park, enhancing their understanding of the history, culture, and sports development in mainland China.
