EdUHK Career Fair 2025: Employer Booth Exhibition Helps Students in Exploring Local and International Job Opportunities

The Student Affairs Office (SAO) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held the Employer Booth Exhibition of EdUHK Career Fair 2025 between 4 and 7 March on its Tai Po Campus. This exhibition provided students with the opportunity to engage face-to-face with local, Mainland and international companies, attracting over 1,000 visits from students.

Among the notable participants were the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), German Pool (Hong Kong) Limited, the YMCA of Hong Kong, New Oriental International Education Training Centre in Shenzhen, and BASIS International & Bilingual Schools ‧ China, as well as various government departments. These employers offer a wide range of job opportunities and prospects in business, education and non-profit organisations to students.

EdUHK Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin was in attendance for the Opening Ceremony, in which he delivered a speech to begin the proceedings. “This event provides students with valuable career planning information and creates a platform for direct communication with employers. This interaction allows students to understand employer expectations, helping them adequately prepare before entering the workforce,” he said. Professor Chan encouraged students to actively engage with employers to gain insights into industry demands and development trends, thereby preparing for their future careers.

The four-day exhibition featured a rich array of activities. One highlight was a networking session held on the first day, from which the students benefitted greatly. Students participating in the exchange noted that many of the company representatives shared insights into industry trends, corporate culture and their personal work experiences. The insights shared and advice given greatly assisted students in understanding the challenges and opportunities.

As well as the networking session, the exhibition also provided on-site interview opportunities. Numerous employers set up interview booths, allowing students to apply for positions and attend immediate interviews. This hands-on experience helped students polish their interview skills and provided them with invaluable practical experience. Also at the exhibition, Mr Yan Wei-chu, Deputy Director of Operations at GBA (Guangdong) I&E Incubation Base, spoke about entrepreneurship in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). This session informed aspiring entrepreneurs about the entrepreneurial landscape, supportive policies and market opportunities.

The exhibition also included a series of workshops focused on image enhancement services, including professional make-up consultations for interviews and individual photography services. Professional make-up artists conducted live demonstrations, teaching basic make-up techniques and colour coordination, enabling students to enhance their appearance and confidently showcase their image and talents. In addition to this exhibition, the EdUHK Career Fair 2025 also featured a series of related activities, such as career talks and skill-enhancement workshops covering topics like work etiquette, government and teachers' recruitment tests, and basic law and national security law tests.

EdUHK SAO is committed to proactively enhancing students’ employability through a variety of initiatives. In the 2024/25 academic year, five major events were organised, including the Career Carnival, the Government Career Fair, the Hong Kong & Mainland Recruitment & Networking Expo, the GBA Schools Recruitment Tour and the EdUHK Career Fair 2025. These events provide students with numerous opportunities to connect with potential employers and grasp their interested careers.
