RGC Public Lecture – From Saving Lives to Empowering Learning: Wow, AI is So Close!

Professor Philip Yu Leung-ho, Associate Director of the University Research Facility of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at The Education University of Hong Kong, has been invited by the Research Grants Council (RGC) to deliver a public lecture entitled ‘From Saving Lives to Empowering Learning: Wow, AI is So Close!’ on 20 January 2024.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is ubiquitous and widely used. In the lecture, Professor Yu will showcase several AI projects that have real-life applications, including detecting comments indicative of suicide risk on social media, medical image diagnosis, AI-assisted language learning and assessment, preference learning in social networks for personalised recommendations.
RGC public lectures aim to arouse public interest in local research developments. Since 2009, numerous leading scholars, including EdUHK academics, have been invited to present their research and achievements to the public. For further details, please visit here.
