Abstract

From the Islamic Revolution in 1979, to the nuclear deal with six world powers (Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States) in 2015, to the recent re-imposition of sanctions by the US, Iranians have been resilient in coping with a number of social changes and global challenges over decades. In this lecture, Dr Mehdi Fakheri, Consul-General of Islamic Republic of Iran, will enhance audience’s understanding of Iran and Persian culture, by delineating how the rich Persian culture and history distinctively contribute to the past world civilization, as well as the Persian heritage interacts and responds to the globalising culture nowadays.

Locating at one of the most important strategic positions in the Middle East, Iran has a pivotal and positive role in maintaining regional stability and shaping a better common global future, which Dr Fakheri will also conclude in the lecture.
