Between the Sky and the Earth, a harmonious bond unites all living beings. The enigmatic cosmos and the wisdom of humanity intertwines into a creation that transcends beyond time and space. Prologue: Where Sky and Earth Meet is rooted in traditional Chinese philosophy and echoes contemporary exploration technology in the celestial realms. It invites visitors to embark on a journey through time, space and contemplation.

The I Ching, or Book of Changes, states that in the “Three Realms of Heaven, Earth, and Man”, Heaven, Earth and Man mutually influence one another, collectively shaping the operational principles of the world. This is not only an essence of Chinese philosophy but also serves as the foundation for our comprehension of the universe and life. Titled ‘Where Sky and Earth Meet’, this exhibition seeks to merge this profound philosophical insight with contemporary technological perspectives, initiating a dialogue on the cosmos, humanity, culture and philosophy.

As a prelude to the collaborative initiative between The Education University of Hong Kong and artist Xu Bing, Where Sky and Earth Meet is not merely an introduction to Xu’s artworks, but also lays the groundwork to The Xu Bing Art Satellite Creative Residency Project to be hosted by EdUHK.

Together, let us embark together on this transcendent dialogue spanning time and space ‘Where Sky and Earth Meet’, and rediscover boundless possibilities within ourselves and the cosmos.
