ELE impact team collected evidence in Indonesia to enhance English learning in under-resourced areas
📢 From October 16-24, 2024, our ELE impact team collected evidence in Indonesia to enhance English learning in under-resourced areas. Here are the highlights:
- Surveys: 2,830 students and 24 teachers
- Interviews/Testimonials: 30+ students, 13 teachers, 1 parent
- Lesson Plans: Created 23 lesson plans
- Class Observations: 6 classes (public, vocational, Islamic, boarding schools)
- Endorsements: 13 headmasters supporting our curriculum integration
We are compiling all evidence for an in-progress report. Based on preliminary findings, we will launch the second season of the social impact project, working with 6 schools and 7 teachers from Nov 2024 to Mar 2025. Our plans include:
- Collecting real-time data via the Experience Sampling Method (ESM) over 2 weeks
- Interviewing more parents
- Assessing family socioeconomic status and resources (books, gadgets, library visits, private tutoring, overseas travel)
- Measuring speaking fluency with AI tools
- Expanding to a new province (e.g., Kalimantan Barat) with state government support, in partnership with an educational company
This project strengthens our ties with universities, schools, industries, and state government, expanding EdUHK’s reach and making a real difference in Indonesia. 🌟
