About the Conference
Welcome to the Education for All: International Conference on Supporting the Learning and Teaching of Young Multicultural Learners!
The Conference is taking place within the framework of an undertaking C-for-Chinese@JC, created and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, co-created by three local universities and two non-governmental organisations. Through pioneering a home-school-community evidence-based model and fostering a culturally responsive learning environment at kindergartens, this five-year initiative aims to help the non-Chinese speaking (NCS) children develop fundamental Chinese language ability in time, for better transition to primary education and early integration into the community.
Organized by the Education University of Hong Kong, the Conference will feature two keynote speakers, Professor James Banks from University of Washington and Professor Fred Dervin from University of Helsinki. The Conference will also feature plenary and parallel sessions by international and local scholars, practitioners, and advocates in the domain of multicultural education. Through these dynamic and engaging interactions, the Conference will give insights into the culturally responsive pedagogy and practices, curriculum development, and family support that address the educational needs of minority children in Hong Kong.
We look forward to meeting you at the Conference!
