Extract

There are many similarities between Philippi in the New Testament era and Hong Kong today. The speaker looked at the challenges we face from different perspectives such as archaeology, colonial culture, and the value of the Roman world.

Interpretation of Letter to the Philippians cannot be separated from the background at the time. Apostle Paul's request to the believers was not blindfolded joy but thorough understanding of what they faced: the culture of extreme pursuit of personal glory, competition, power and manipulation in the Roman world. Jesus Christ, taking the image of slavery and Paul, not concerning his own needs, were examples to follow.

Will we also uphold the value of Christ? Living as a heavenly citizen is commensurate with the Gospel we believe. Working out our belief will bring hope to the world.
