Our Centre had taken more than half a year to organize the "Grace is Beautiful" four-panel comic drawing competition. Finally, the competition came to the climax with the public exhibition of winning works. The judges had selected 24 winning works from more than 1,000 entries, from more than 100 primary and secondary schools. My heart was filled with gratitude.
With the help from colleagues and volunteers, the winning works and more than 100 outstanding drawings were finally posted at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre exhibition area by noon on May 11. Some of the works expressed the precious gifts from Heavenly Father, e.g. the various supplies of nature, and the companion of Jesus when there are difficulties in life. The exhibition lasted for three days, attracting passers-by, parents and children and even tourists. Many people stopped to watch and appreciate the drawings. Some parents explained the “message” behind to their children and some families took photos in front of the works.
The exhibition was a success. We did pay much effort but it was not the only factor. We give thanks to our Lord for His wisdom and patience, and His providence of a proper venue and a helpful team. With limited resources, the drawings were mounted properly and hung on the display board with good lighting effect. Ultimately, the unexpected technical problems were solved one by one, and all of us learnt a valuable lesson. I am especially grateful to the Heavenly Father for introducing a young part-time staff to our team, to take up the design work when we were preparing for the exhibition in the final stage.
Grace is beautiful. I hope the competition encourage the participants to reflect on the beauty of life and the abundance of grace which leads to a life full of joy and thankfulness.
