The Scripture chosen is a rare prayer which clearly affirms that wealth is linked to character. Material prosperity was commonly seen as God's blessing in the Old Testament while it was not mentioned in the New Testament any more. The Lord calls us to pray for the food that is needed, but we must understand that everything belongs to God. According to Christian faith, to glorify God always comes prior to seeking worldly satisfaction. Tight attachment to material possessions usually leads to pain and sin. To cope with the challenge of managing wealth, we should cultivate a responsible attitude to make money as well as to spend money. Offering to the House of God and sharing with those who are really in need leads to real joy. In conclusion, riches is not a problem in itself but the attitude of dealing with wealth is.
