Mark 1:1 |
Extract: |
From modern biblical theology, narrative and textual study, the Gospel of Mark shows a strong political tension.
Under severe political monitoring and opposition, Jesus chose the right moment to walk towards the cross with wisdom and courage.
The gospel ends with the fear of women (16:8). This seems a poor ending but shows that the gospel story is unfinished, driven by the hope after Jesus' resurrection.
Facing the depressive political atmosphere right now, we should not be impulsive but rather have the courage and understanding of the meaning and the price behind all kinds of choices. |
