Environmental Health (EH)

Introduction

There is little argument that environmental issues are of growing importance, both globally and locally. Notably, environmental problems and their corresponding solutions are typically complex and multifaceted by nature, and environmental sustainability of any society must be built upon the integration of science, engineering, and education.

The objectives of this research theme (Environmental Health) will:

(a)study the occurrence and concentrations of environmental pollutants in food, the local environment and human;

(b)assess the environmental and public health risks emerged;

(c)develop novel technology (e.g. molecular imprinting, biosensor and biomarkers) for their in situ determination;and

(d)develop cost effective methods for the removal of environmental pollutants from the environment.
