Dr. Prudence Lau received her PhD in Architecture from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She was founding member of the Hong Kong Chapter of DOCOMOMO (Documentation and Conservation of buildings, sites and neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement), and has co-curated the first DOCOMOMO Hong Kong exhibition in 2013. In the same year, she joined The Hong Kong Institute of Education (now The Education University of Hong Kong). She collaborates with professionals and local organisations with the aim of raising awareness in the arts, cultural and urban heritage of Hong Kong and Asia in the modern period. Her teaching expertise includes subjects on cultural heritage and Hong Kong architectural history. Dr. Lau previously received the Early Career Scheme (ECS) grant for 2016-2018, and a General Research Fund (GRF) in 2020-2022 from the University Grants Committee Research Grants Council. She was awarded the President's Award for Outstanding Performance in Teaching (Individual Award- Early Career Faculty Member) at The Education University of Hong Kong in 2018. Recently, Dr. Lau received a PGDE in Early Childhood Education in 2020 to further explore creativity and art education at a younger age, and has completed a Diploma in Cultural Resource Management in 2023 from the University of Victoria, Canada to enrich her expertise in cultural heritage. She has published in journals including International Journal of Heritage Studies, Cities, Land Use Policy, and Sustainability, etc.
