Prof. HUNG Keung from the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts at EdUHK participated in Nuit Blanche 2024, Toronto’s largest overnight contemporary art festival, presenting a cross-cultural project with Canadian dance artist Lauren Runions. Their installation, “Dim Sum without Distance,” reimagined traditional Chinese painting’s “Three Distances” theory, integrating it with new media and the culinary art of dim sum. Displayed at Love Park on 5 and 6 October 2024, the project featured video content of Reunions’ journey through Hong Kong, blending dim sum-making and Hong Kong scenery in a form of performance art. This multimedia experience explored the connections between food, culture, and art, encouraging audiences to reflect on shared experiences that unite diverse communities.
