Organized by the Xiqu and Intangible Cultural Heritage Centre (XICH), The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), The “International Symposium on Xiqu and ICH Development 2025” will be held on 22 – 24 February 2025 at Xiqu Centre, West Kowloon
Cultural District.

With the main theme of “Developing Xiqu and ICH as a means of disseminating Chinese culture globally”, the symposium will bring together scholars, practitioners, educators, and enthusiasts around the world to discuss and explore the development of Xiqu and ICH as a
powerful means of disseminating Chinese culture internationally. The symposium will comprise keynote speeches by internationally renowned scholars, plenary and parallel sessions, and paper and poster presentations. A symposium proceeding with ISBN will be published afterwards. The symposium will focus on the following key areas:
1) Transmission of Xiqu and ICH in schools
2) Transmission of Xiqu and ICH in communities
3) Application of modern technology in the transmission of Xiqu and ICH
4) Nature and characteristics of Xiqu and ICH in promoting Chinese culture
5) Inter-disciplinary studies in promoting teaching and learning of Xiqu and ICH

In the long term, it is expected that the symposium will establish an ongoing network of Xiqu and ICH scholars, practitioners, and enthusiasts to continue collaboration and knowledge sharing, as well as create a sustainable model for future symposiums and events focused on Xiqu and ICH development.
