【Congratulations】Prof. Leung Bo Wah and Dr. Yang Yang Named World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University

News | Oct 2025

We are excited to share that Prof. Leung Bo Wah and Dr. Yang Yang have been listed among 54 EdUHK scholars as the World’s Top 2% Most-cited Scientists in the 2025 rankings published by Stanford University. This represents an increase of five people compared to last year, demonstrating the sustained enhancement of EdUHK scholars’ research capabilities and strong recognition on the international stage.

Our listed scholars span 18 different professional fields, with 28 specialising in Education, highlighting the University’s leadership in this field. Other research fields represented among the selected scholars include: Language and Linguistics, Environmental Science, Music, Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing, Forestry, and Rehabilitation. This achievement fully reflects that while continuing to lead in Education, EdUHK also possesses profound strength and innovation capabilities across diverse research domains.

At EdUHK, our scholars are committed to solving real-world challenges, fostering collaboration between industry and academia, and actively translating research outcomes to benefit society. The University values diverse research outputs including journal papers, books and creative works, as well as knowledge transfer activities and contributions to policy formation, scholarship of learning and teaching and educational innovation. We are also deeply committed to quality education and teacher education, emphasising the importance of enhancing educational standards.

In May this year, EdUHK announced its Strategic Plan 2025-2031, shaping the blueprint for ‘Education Futures’ through four key areas. These include nurturing future-ready educators and talents with positive values and skills for tomorrow; and achieving tangible impact and benefitting the world through breakthroughs in research and knowledge sharing and transfer.

The list is compiled annually by a research team from Stanford University, based on Scopus data. It considers factors such as citation counts, co-authorship adjustments, and author ranking, focusing on actual academic impact rather than simply the quantity of publications.
