Abstract:

This paper provides a summary of experience gained from a secondary two project learning activity in science. The activity was one of the initiatives of the "Schools Around the World" project working in collaboration with a local secondary school. Students were to learn more about science investigation with the context of the topic "acid rain". The paper describes the process of implementing project learning; the considerations for designing, performing, and assessing science experiments; and the problems that the teachers encountered in the process. Apart from a description of the process, the paper also included some suggested teaching materials, such as scoring rubrics and student guidelines. The paper concludes with the views of the participating teachers and their suggestions as well as those of the project team about implementing similar activities in future.
