The meeting is going to be held on the campus of Hong Kong Institute of Education, Tai Po, Hong Kong
- Do I need a visa to visit Hong Kong?
Visitors from most countries can enter Hong Kong without a visa for periods of seven days to 180 days, depending on nationality. You may check with the Hong Kong Immigration Department for details of visa requirements.
- How will we get from the hotel to the campus and back?
From the hotel to the campus: a bus will depart in front of the hotel at 8:15am (sharp) on January 11 & 12
From the campus to the hotel: a shuttle bus will depart at the close of each day’s program.

- How do I book a hotel room?
- Reply to the hotel confirmation email sent by Ms. Lydia Li no later than November 13, 2009.
- Show your passport for check-in upon arrival
- Your room bill will be paid directly by the Institute. You will be responsible for all other expenses incurred.
- Who is sponsoring the Asia Leadership Research and Development Roundtable 2010?
The Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change at the Hong Kong Institute of Education.
- Who is attending?
The Roundtable participants Senior Fellows, Research Fellows and representatives of institutions with whom the APCLC has partnership agreement from North America, Europe, ANZ, Southeast Asia and China.
- What are the goals of the Roundtable?
- To develop an agenda for research on educational leadership and change in the Asia Pacific region
- To enhance personal/professional relationships that can form the foundation for future research and development collaboration
- To strengthen our regional/global network of scholars in school leadership at both the individual and institutional level
- To take action steps towards collaboration in current and future research projects on educational leadership and change in the region
- Do I need to write a paper for the Roundtable?
- Yes. We have asked all participants to write a paper of 3,000 to 6,000 words for inclusion in the conference proceedings.
- Participants from the region will write papers that describe the most important challenges facing school leaders in their national context, and identify some related research themes and questions.
- Participants from outside the region will select an area of particular interest in the fields of educational leadership and change and provide an updated “state-of-the-art” paper on that topic from their perspective(s).
- Both types of papers may be co-authored.
- Will I make a presentation of my paper?
- Participants will not present their papers.
- The goal of the Asia Leadership Roundtable 2010 is to formulate a research agenda on educational leadership for the Asia Pacific region. Therefore, the format of the Roundtable will consist of highly interactive discussion sessions.
- When is my paper due?
The abstract is due on November 6, 2009, and the full paper is due on December 11, 2009.
- How do I submit the paper?
Please submit electronic copy of your abstract/paper to Dr. Tracy Zhang at szhang@ied.edu.hk
- Will there be visual audio aids for presentation?
For the opening speech, provocateur session, and keynote speech, computer generated projectors will be provided.
For the Breakout Discussion session, whiteboard and markers will be provided. If you want us to print any handouts or poster for you, please send to Lydia (lydiali@ied.edu.hk) no later than January 4, 2009.
- What will be the weather in HK?
Hong Kong has a subtropical climate. The weather is usually cool and dry in January. The temperature can drop below 10°C (50°F).

How should we dress for the Roundtable?
- Dress code on January 11th: “Professional” (men, please wear sport jackets)
- Dress code for January 12th: casual
- How will we get from the airport to the hotel?
By Hotel Shuttle Bus: every hour, the service charge is HK$140 per trip per person. Click to see schedule and pickup point location map.
By Taxi (green type): every minute, the charge is around HK$250 per trip.
