Authentic principals need to know:

                            ● When to push . . . and when to let go.
                            ● How to balance listening and leading.
                            ● How to authentically represent themselves and the interests of
                                children.
                            ● How to achieve effective leadership within school
                                communities.

An example of an authentic leadership action

When confronted with a tough decision, here are some steps that
                            you can take:

                            ● Open the discussion by talking about trust.
                            ● Tell teachers about the touchy situation you’re facing.
                            ● Share with teachers what you’re thinking about doing.
                            ● Explain the reasons behind some of the decisions you’re
                                 thinking about making.
                            ● Ask for input and actively engage with their comments.
                            ● Ask how trust can be maintained in light of the hard decisions
                                 that have to be made.
