Student Athlete Start-up Awarded Seed Funding

Hong Kong Special Needs Sports Institute Limited, founded by Mr Abraham Kok Yu-hang, a final year student of the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme and a former athlete of the Hong Kong Triathlon team, won a seed fund at The Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention’s BEHub competition, with entrepreneurship support from the KT Sub-Office, The Education University of Hong Kong.

Kok, who is dyslexic, is always eager to motivate students with special educational needs (SEN) to develop their unique potential through his own experience in becoming a successful sportsman. With this in mind, he founded the Hong Kong Special Needs Sports Institute Limited which aims to develop a wide range of sports courses specially designed for SEN students, to help improve their self-confidence and develop their potential and communication skills.

Apart from securing seed fund from the BEHub, the start-up has just been certified by the Training Qualifications UK (ESEA) Limited to be one of the approved centres to operate more than 300 regulated courses listed under the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation of the UK government.
