Field Experience in the Greater Bay Area
Field Experience in the Greater Bay Area in Semester Two, 2023/24
Introduction to the Course
Field Experience is an important component of teacher education programmes. To enhance students’ teaching experience, a 3-cp elective course – Field Experience in the Greater Bay Area (GBA FE) will be conducted in Semester Two, 2023/24.
GBA FE will facilitate our students to aim high and explore opportunities beyond Hong Kong, gain more job-related experience/exposure in the GBA, and open up collaborative innovation opportunities for students in Hong Kong and the GBA.
The course immerses non-local elements into Block Practice and provides students with three weeks of authentic teaching experience in schools which admit Hong Kong and Macao children (港澳子弟學校) in the Greater Bay Area. Under the course, students can apply pre-existing knowledge and gain new insights via pre-block practice introductory lectures, try-out teaching, school activities, and other educational or cultural activities.
Duration
Students will be placed to a school in GBA and conduct an additional 3-week Block Practice (BP) between mid-May 2024 to June 2024 for lesson observation, try-out teaching, participation in school activities, and other educational/cultural activities as suggested by the school.
Target Participant
The course will be offered to Year 3 students from full-time BEd(EL), BEd(CL), BEd(P)/(S)-MA, BEd(PE), or BA(CAC) & BEd(VA) on a voluntary basis in the forms of a 3-cp FE elective course or a 3-cp activity under the Shell course. We understand that BEd(CL) students will be engaged in language immersion programme by the end of Year 3, thus Year 2 students from BEd(CL) are also welcome to join.
