Abstract
Hong Kong is a beautiful city with two-fifths of its area comprising country parks. However it is beset with chronic air and marine pollution. New techniques in environmental analysis emphasize the gravity of these problems.
This presentation will comprise an overview research into environmental analyses undertaken at City University during the past 15 years by my students. The areas covered include organic carbon and metals in sediment; the sizes and deposition velocities of particles in ambient air; air particulate matter; metals in street dust; metals in nullah water; rainwater, raindrop and cloudwater analysis.
Brief comments will also be given on the air quality objectives in Hong Kong and the recent proposals concerning environmentally-friendly lighting.
