Abstract
This is a half‐day round‐table workshop devoted to sharing practical experiences on the
effective use of essential methods to conduct various types of research which involve different kinds of techniques in scientific computation, modelling and visualisation. The areas of research and application include atomic physics, molecular biology, quantum chemistry, nanotechnology, materials science, and metallurgy as well as science education. Apart from introducing the relevant scientific theories, models and methods, there will be some hands‐on practices and demonstrations which are based on the High Performance Computing system and virtual reality facilities as newly acquired by the Science and Environmental Studies Department of HKIEd.
