Awardee of the President’s Commendation in Sports in 2022/23
Thank you to EdUHK for recognising me with the President's Commendation. As a full-time karate athlete in the past four years, I have persevered through rigorous training, injuries, and defeats in competitions. Due to the pandemic, most competitions were cancelled these years. However, I remained committed to all the practices and strived to work even harder to achieve the best results in upcoming competitions.
The most memorable experience was in 2021 when I participated in the Asian Karate Championship. Unfortunately, I fell ill before the competition. While staying in the hospital, I actively mulled over how I could win through strategy rather than relying solely on physical strength. With the belief that I could still win in the match, I persevered with determination and ultimately won a silver medal in the Championship. This experience taught me to believe in myself and never give up, no matter how difficult the circumstances are.
Lastly, I had the honour of representing Hong Kong and EdUHK in the 2022 FISU University World Cup Combat Games. Although I did not achieve the desired results nor receive a medal, I am grateful for such opportunity and will cherish these fond memories. As a sportsman, I will continue to work hard and strive for success in future competitions, bringing honour and making contributions to EdUHK.
The Education University of Hong Kong considers it vital to encourage students’ active engagement in co-curricular activities so as to build value systems and personalities, broaden horizons and absorb knowledge from alternative and non-traditional sources. The President’s Commendation Scheme (PCS) was introduced in 2010/11 as a University-level recognition of students’ non-academic achievements. For more information, please visit here.
