Awardee of the President’s Commendation in Arts and Culture in 2022/23

Reflecting on my bittersweet memories, I started playing guzheng at the age of six.  Years of diligent practice, coupled with immense amount of effort and perseverance, were required to progress to the next stage of my musical journey.

Despite the numerous difficulties I encountered, such as the extreme pain caused by false nails during practices and the blisters resulting from continuous plucking of strings, my heart is always touched by the music when I play the piece flawlessly. Music is a non-verbal outlet to express our emotions and a balm that warms our hearts. The uniqueness of guzheng allowed me to claim the championship titles in local and international competitions starting from my studies in secondary school. These achievements further developed my talent to participate in orchestras and teach my students over the years.

Lastly, I am honoured to receive the President's Commendation. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to EdUHK and my referee for granting me this recognition. With this award, I am even more determined to pursue my dream as a performer and music teacher. In the future, I hope that my career path will intertwine with my belief. Transcending the identity of an artist, I aspire to share my knowledge with the younger generation who are the future of tomorrow.
