Chair Professor Cheung Him, Associate Head of the Department of Psychology, led a delegation to visit Nanjing Normal University in Nanijng, China from 9 to 12 October to enhance academic collaboration.
The delegation comprised members of two newly established research clusters of our department including Prof. Wong Wing-sze, Dr. Ivan Poon Kai-tak, Dr. Wang Jie, Dr. Lin Dan and Dr. Hou Wai-kai.
The delegation was welcomed by the key representatives of the School of Psychology of NNU. During the visit, both sides discussed collaboration in the field of education, research and scholarship and the development of a joint supervision of research degree students program. It is believed that such cooperation can contribute in raising academic performance and impact of both institutions.
Apart from discussing collaboration, scholars from both institutions delivered interesting seminars on topics related to mental health and well-being as well as language and learning for the NNU research degree students. Dr. Ivan Poon delivered a seminar entitled “The tug-o-war of aggression: Interpersonal antecedents and consequences” and Dr. Lin Dan delivered a seminar entitled “Enhancing reading abilities in Chinese young children”. Meanwhile, Dr. Zhang Jingjing and Dr. Xu Wei of Nanjing Normal University also delivered lively presentations. Participants were greatly inspired and fruitful discussions were held at the end of the seminars.
