“EdUAI: Personalized Math Learning” Won iCAN2024 Silver Medal and Special Award
We are thrilled to announce that our department's innovative project, “EdUAI: Personalized Math Learning,” has been awarded the 9th International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada (iCAN2024) Silver Medal and a Special Award for its innovative contributions to educational technology. This innovative AI-assisted application is spearheaded by our BSc-AIET graduate, Mr. Wong Chi On (Class of 2024), and his project supervisor, Dr. Henry So.
Project Overview
EdUAI is an innovative AI-assisted application that transforms mathematics education. Using real-time performance analysis and adaptive algorithms, EdUAI delivers personalized lessons and practice tailored to each student's needs. The platform encourages students to learn from mistakes through interactive visualizations, ensures broad accessibility, and makes high-quality, adaptive math instruction available to students of all backgrounds. EdUAI aligns with the flipped classroom model by empowering independent learning and self-correcting, freeing teachers to facilitate collaborative, hands-on activities. With scalable AI-driven personalization, EdUAI has the potential to boost learning outcomes, enhance engagement, and revolutionize how mathematics is taught.
Key Innovative Features
- Integration of computer vision and large language models to analyze students’ calculations and provide instant tailored feedback
- Emphasis on promoting self-learning and independent thinking, rather than simply providing answers
- Cost-effective self-learning approach that saves cost from private tutoring
- Enabling real-time interaction through a user-friendly interface, saves time from seeking tutorial
We are incredibly proud of Mr. Wong Chi On and Dr. Henry So for their contributions to this pioneering project and look forward to seeing the positive impact EdUAI will have on mathematics education.
