In the recently concluded "Robocon 2024," students from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) showcased outstanding performance, achieving a historic breakthrough. The competition attracted over 200 students from eight local tertiary institutions, making it highly competitive.

The EdUHK Robotics Team, known as "Architeacher," demonstrated exceptional teamwork throughout the competition. For the first time in five years, Architeacher managed to defeat the traditionally strong team from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This victory not only marks an improvement in the team's technical skills but also serves as recognition of their years of hard work.

This year's competition, themed "Harvest Day," required teams to design and build both manual and fully automated robots. These robots had to incorporate machine learning models and computer vision technology to automatically detect "rice grains" in the competition area and complete the harvesting tasks. This posed unprecedented challenges to the teams' coordination and strategic planning abilities.

Siu Chun Ping (Cloof), the leader of Architeacher, led the team to a commendable performance, showcasing the potential and capabilities of EdUHK students in technological innovation. Cloof was also honored with the individual award for "Key Influencer," recognizing his excellence in robotics technology and leadership skills.

Cloof expressed that the experience gained from this competition will help him integrate more new technologies into his future teaching, enhancing students' learning outcomes and interest. He noted that the challenges and learning experiences from this competition would become a crucial foundation for his future innovative teaching.

In addition to their technical success, Architeacher also won the "Most Passionate Cheerleaders Award," highlighting the team's spirit and enthusiasm.

The Education University of Hong Kong will continue to support students in participating in various innovation and technology competitions, maintaining close collaboration with the industry to cultivate more outstanding talents in technological innovation, thereby injecting new vitality into the local tech development.
