MIT servers as a supporting organisation for the “Star Mission STEAM Competition 2024” hosted by Star Club Scientist Education
The Department of Mathematics and Information Technology (MIT) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) served as a supporting organsation for the “Star Mission STEAM Competition 2024,” hosted by Star Club Scientist Education on 25 August 2024 (See Figure 1).

The competition aimed to foster student innovation and exploration in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Twenty-four teams from primary and secondary schools participated. Prof. Song Yanjie from MIT served as both a judge and consultant (see Figure 2).

Some participating students used 3D scanning technology to showcase their innovative projects on the metaverse platform, Learningverse, developed by Prof. Song’s research team. This enabled dynamic 3D displays of their work (see Figure 3). This innovative approach not only allows students to vividly present their creativity within a virtual environment but also facilitates a collaborative space for sharing ideas and feedback among peers.

MIT has played a pivotal role in supporting this event, ensuring its seamless execution. Through this collaboration, MIT and Star Club Scientist Education aim to inspire the next generation of STEAM leaders by providing a platform that nurtures future scientists with skills in problem-solving, creativity, communication, and collaboration.
