Student Academic Presentations at UNSW

From 10 to 14 June 2024, Tina Ma Yunsi and Zhizi Zheng from the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology at The Education University of Hong Kong delivered presentations at the International Outreach Study Programme at The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia.

Tina Ma, a final year Doctor of Education student, delivered a presentation titled "Developing Self-Regulated Digital Storytelling Pedagogy to Support English Language Learning for Primary EFL/ESL Students.” In her research, Tina explored using an innovative pedagogy to support primary school students in English language learning. She emphasized the importance of fostering self-regulated learning skills within this context, allowing students to participate in their learning actively.

Zhizi Zheng is a first-year Ph.D. student whose research interests include learning science, AI in education, and STEM education. She recently gave a presentation titled "The Relationships of Motivation and Self-regulation to Students' Cognitive Presence and Empowerment in Online Learning Environments." Zheng discussed a study that used path analysis in a structural equation model to investigate the relationships among students' learning motivation, the Community of Inquiry (COI) presence, and feelings of empowerment.
