  1. Introduces students to key topics, significant insights, and major debates and challenges related to globalization and education.
  2. Explores the interplay between globalization, global processes, and critical educational responses.
  3. Opportunities for students to consider global issues in education, as well as significant global challenges beyond schools.
  4. Multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary in structure and content.
  5. Focuses on global awareness as a key facet of educational development and reform in the region and around the world.

This programme is designed for bachelor's degree holders, current teachers, and new teachers from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds in and beyond education.

Participants are required to complete a total of eight courses (24 credit points) for graduation.

Classes in the same or different semester(s) may be scheduled on weekday daytime/evenings, weekends and/or during long holidays at the Tai Po Campus / Tseung Kwan O Study Centre / North Point Study Centre / Kowloon Tong Satellite Study Centre and/or other locations as decided by the University.

# The elective courses listed above may not be offered every year. 

The medium of instruction is English.

  • Applicants should normally hold a recognised Bachelor’s / Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • Applicants should submit a Personal Study Statement of 500-1,000 words articulating their interest in the programme.
  • Applicants should invite two referees to complete the Referee's Report. Please input information of the referees through the "Confidential Report/References” section in the online application system. The University will send invitation emails to the referees to complete the online referee’s report.  
  • Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution in a non-English speaking system should normally fulfil one of the following minimum English proficiency requirements:
  • Overall score of IELTS 6.0 (academic version)# ; or
  • TOEFL score of 80 (internet-based test)#; or
  • Band 6 in the College English Test (CET)# with a total score of 430 or above; or
  • Grade C or above in GCSE / GCE OL English; or
  • Other equivalent qualifications.

# The test should be taken in test centres and the result should be valid within two years.
For example, if you are applying for 2025/26 academic year, your IELTS / TOEFL / CET6 test must be obtained on or after 1 January 2023.

TOEFL Home Editions, TOEFL MyBest Score, IELTS Indicator, IELTS Online, IELTS One Skill Retake, Duolingo and National Postgraduate Entrance Examination (全國碩士研究生招生考試) are NOT acceptable. 

Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview.

Tuition Fee: HK$158,000 for both one-year full-time and two-year part-time mode.

The tuition fee is provisional and subject to adjustment. Tuition fees paid are normally not refundable or transferable. Extension fees will be charged to students who extend their studies beyond the normal duration (i.e. 1 year for full-time and 2 years for part-time).
