Profile
Professor Ruth Hayhoe led
the Hong Kong Institute of Education in the role of Director during
the significant period when Hong Kong was experiencing the political
transition from British to Chinese sovereignty. This was also a
significant period for HKIEd, which had just moved into its new
campus in Tai Po, prior to launching a new phase in its development.
Professor Hayhoe's achievements were distinctive and recognised
by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
in the award of the Silver Bauhinia Star in the summer of 2002.
Her contribution to the development of HKIEd was acknowledged when
the Institute conferred on her the title President Emeritus
and an Honorary Doctorate.
