Dr. Margarita Pavlova from IE participated in the UNESCO-UNEVOC National TVET Policy Dialogue, organized in collaboration with Nepal’s Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). The event, held from November 20-23, 2024, focused on the theme ‘Strengthening TVET for Sustainable Development in Nepal: Harnessing Digital Transformation, Private Sector Engagement, and Greening TVET.’ This theme underscores the vital role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in developing an inclusive, competitive, and environmentally conscious workforce.
The dialogue brought together a diverse group of participants, with discussions centered on the integration of digital transformation, greening TVET, and private sector engagement to enhance the quality, relevance, and sustainability of TVET in Nepal. A section on Greening TVET was incorporated into the Policy Recommendation Note, the primary output of the dialogue, detailing clear and actionable steps for advancing Nepal's TVET sector in this area. This collaborative effort was finalized on the last day of the event, involving representatives from CTEVT and the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Center to ensure shared ownership of the recommendations.
At the request of the Nepalese government, UNESCO prepared and submitted a policy recommendation note. Following its review and approval, CTEVT will be tasked with developing an implementation plan, which is expected to generate a significant impact nationwide. Additionally, Dr. Pavlova has been invited to participate in the implementation process next year in Africa.
