Mission 使命 The Faculty of Humanities is committed to: • Building upon its traditional strengths in Language, Literature and Culture to offer high quality language education and interdisciplinary programmes that respond to the demand of Humanities disciplines in Hong Kong and the region; • Providing a comprehensive, humanistic research environment to conduct cutting-edge research, with significant impact in the academic arena locally, regionally and internationally; • Nurturing competent, caring and creative graduates with excellent Chinese and English communication skills, contributing to sectors related to language education, literature, linguistics and culture, and the community at large; • Offering students an educational experience that will equip them with the capacity to analyse, synthesise and critically reflect on the knowledge across a wide range of disciplines in the Humanities in order to resolve complex problems and to meet future challenges; • Contributing to the University's strategic development by fostering debates in and facilitating the dissemination of ideas within the Humanities through knowledge transfer primarily in the form of teaching and research, as well as by inspiring students intellectually through the offering of a broad range of General Education courses; and • Forging stronger partnerships and links within the local community as well as in the regional and international arenas. 人文學院旨在： • 發揚學院在語言、文學與文化方面之教學 與科研力量，提供優質的語文教育及跨學 科課程以配合香港及鄰近地區對人文學科 的需求； • 營造富有人文精神的學術氛圍，推動前沿 的學術研究，為本港及鄰近地區以至國際 學界提供貢獻； • 培育學生成為具專業才能及中英雙語俱佳 的優秀人才，發揮創意，關懷社群，在語文 教育、文學、語言學與文化等行業，為社會 帶來裨益； • 在廣泛的人文學科領域上，培育學生分析、 綜合及解難能力，從多角度思考，面對未來 挑戰； • 透過教學與研究傳遞知識，促進院內學術 討論和交流，並提供多元化通識教育科目 以啟發學生的智能，為「教育為本，超越 教育」之多元學科發展目標作出貢獻；及 • 致力加強與本港、鄰近地區，以及國際的 伙伴關係。 3 | Vision and Mission 願景及使命
