Description

The Second Major in Special Education in line with the Government's policy on inclusive education aims to provide quality teacher education for serving teachers to enable them to work effectively with students with special needs in ordinary or special school settings. It aims to significantly enhance the competencies of participants who will eventually assume the roles of student support teachers, so that they are able to collaborate with the other student support team members and develop effective student support within the realm of the whole school approach.

Career / Study Progression

There is a growing community demand for teachers, teaching assistants, and other school professionals to receive comprehensive training in special education.

Students interested in pursuing studies after their undergraduate programmes may take Master’s programmes in the field of education, psychology and special education, such as the Master of Education (Area of Focus in Special Needs, Giftedness and Counselling), the Master of Social Sciences in Psychology (Schools and Community Settings), the Master of Arts in Educational Counselling, as well as the Master of Science in Educational Speech-Language Pathology and Learning Disabilities offered by EdUHK.
