Teacher Leadership and School Innovation ( Cohort 2018/19 or before ) /
Teacher Leadership and Education Innovation ( Cohort 2019/20 or after )

Description

When beginning their professional life, new teachers are often confronted with three major challenges: (i) how to be an effective teacher; (ii) how to work happily and dynamically; and (iii) how to translate demands for education reform and social change into meaningful innovations and actions within the complex school organization. This Minor enables future teachers to equip themselves to face the challenges in the following ways:

  • An understanding of essential ideas, such as teacher emotions, education equality and equity, teacher leadership, innovation, multi-professional teamwork, and school civic mission;
  • A set of skills for analyzing issues at micro and macro levels from various perspectives;
  • The compassion for making and leading change in practice and policy in education and society; and
  • A sample of strategies for promoting ethical, socially just, and collaborative professional practices.
