Dear Friends,

One of the many things that makes working on a global learning project

such fun, is that the same project changes from year to year. We are now

in the 5th year of the math project, and every year we have more and

more diversity in this project: diversity in the countries

participating, ages of students, and types of schools. In the past we

usually started the project in October and tried to complete it by the

end of March. This year we had many more participants from the Southern

Hemisphere where the school year might start in January or February, and

end in November or December. We also had many new participants who

joined the project later than October.

With this in mind we want to make the following suggestions for

completing your projects. Those of you who joined the project several

months ago, please send us your reports by mid-April so we can share

them with other participants. If your school year ends in May or June,

and you are still working on your project, we want to ask that you plan

to finish it by the end of your school year and send us your report

before you go on summer vacation.

For folks on year-round schools, or schools in the Southern Hemisphere,

please send us, by mid April, a short note to let us know when you plan

to finish up your project, and what would be a convenient time for you

to send us your report.

In the meantime, we invite all participants to please feel free to write

in with any comments, suggestions or progress reports.

With best regards,
