Module Code 單元編號 PFS5078 Module Title 單元名稱 IMPLEMENTING PATRIOTIC EDUCATION IN HONG KONG SCHOOLS 在香港學校實施愛國主義教育 Module Synopsis 單元概要 The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress passed the "Patriotic Education Law of the People's Republic of China" on October 24, 2023, which aims to extend patriotic education to all citizens including families, religious groups, schools, enterprises, etc., also including Hong Kong and Macao under "One Country, Two Systems". The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region proposed in the "2023 Policy Address" that the government will carry out patriotic education to enhance citizens' recognition of the country and China's excellent traditional culture. The "Steering Committee for Promotion of the Constitution and Basic Law" led by the Chief Secretary for Administration has established a "Patriotism Education Working Group" to strengthen education on national history, culture and national conditions at different levels, and to inherit and promote the spirit of patriotism. This programme will enable students to understand the Chinese community and patriotic education in Hong Kong schools. Some schools in Hong Kong have implemented patriotic education experiences and have adopted "Understanding China's modern history, Chinese culture, and national conditions" as a school-based curriculum. This programme explores the implementation of patriotic education in Hong Kong schools. Participants will understand a series of school-based national identity education strategies and demonstrate their professional knowledge and abilities through group study. They will write proposals to plan and implement patriotic education in schools, aiming to cultivate the national identity of primary and secondary school students.
