Module Code 單元編號 ECE5067 Module Title 單元名稱 PROMOTING LANGUAGE AND LITERACY IN EARLY CHILDHOOD 促進早期兒童語文及文學經驗 Module Synopsis 單元概要 This course focuses on developing students’ comprehensive understanding of children’s language and literacy development in the early years. Students will analyse the contributions of home and school to young children’s language and literacy development. They will critically evaluate the effects of various approaches to teaching language and literacy have on children’s language and literacy learning in the preschool settings. An emphasis is on student’s application of the theoretical knowledge when making pedagogical choice evidenced based classroom strategies to promote language and literacy. Current issues of language and literacy development in the Hong Kong context will be reviewed. The Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide prepared by the Education Bureau will also be introduced in this course.
