The course will provide students with second language acquisition theories for very young children. The cognitive, social-economic, culture factors of learning Chinese as a second language will be the main focus of the first half of the course. The theories will provide a solid foundation for developing pedagogies that cater for the language learning needs of very young ethnic minority. The latter half of the course will focus on examining theorized practices of teaching the oral and written Chinese.
