This course will provide a critical review of selected Eastern and Western theoretical perspectives (which include philosophical and cultural perspectives) on child development and learning; quality early childhood programmes (for children birth-8 years). Contextual factors (local and beyond) influencing these prevailing perspectives and approaches in Hong Kong will be touched on. By adopting (or establishing) such multi-perspectives appropriate for early childhood practice, students will be able to develop a personal code of ethical practice. |
