Understanding how play should be implemented, based on the best practice and pedagogies according to the children’s need, is essential for ECE educators. Through this course, as freshmen ECE educators, students will be equipped with various existing play pedagogies and will learn what the characteristics of a ‘playful’ activity are. Then, they will further explore how play impacts child’s growth. To have a better grasp of local implementation, they will be introduced with local-based existing implementation practices. While being taught the practical classroom skillset, students will also learn how to design a playful classroom and how to evaluate a play session through observation.
