SUPPORTING SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF NON-CHINESE SPEAKING CHILDREN IN HOME AND SCHOOLS |
Module Synopsis 單元概要 |
This course aims at training professional caregivers to understand that home and schools have substantial roles in providing social and emotional support to the non-Chinese speaking (NCS) children with whom they work. Students will be able to apply the knowledge of behavior management skills through working with all children in classroom situations, including children with special educational needs and disabilities. Through interacting with adults and peers at home and in schools, children discover who they are and learn to understand others over time. This course provides practical skills for supporting young children and help them develop a sense of security, positive feelings about themselves, increasing their ability to interact effectively with peers and adults, and teaching them social behavior that is culturally and developmentally appropriate. Students will apply what they learn to help children develop the social and emotional skills that are necessary to form strong, healthy relationships throughout their lives. |
